November 10, 2024, the Alpha Phi Omega Alumni Association in Singapore (APOAAS189) proudly took part in the Bayanihan Lecture: Fighting Hunger, Feeding Hope, The Bayanihan Way at the Singapore Management University’s School of Accountancy Ngee Ann Kongsi Auditorium. This impactful event gathered advocates and volunteers committed to combating food insecurity and fostering a spirit of communal service.
The lecture featured an inspiring keynote address by His Excellency Joseph Del Mar Yap, former Philippine Ambassador to Singapore. He shared the remarkable work of the Loaves x Fish Foundation, Incorporated, a non-profit organization based in Muntinlupa, Philippines. Often compared to Singapore’s own Willing Hearts Soup Kitchen, this foundation embodies the Bayanihan spirit by providing nutritious meals to communities in need, offering a vital lifeline to vulnerable populations in Manila.
The APOAAS189 team felt honored to engage in this event, deepening its mission to extend support across borders and contribute to solutions that ensure no one goes hungry. This collaboration underscored the profound power of Bayanihan—community unity—and reaffirmed the group’s commitment to driving change for a more equitable world.
